Alone With Juan Muñoz: Prado Education Invites a New Generation Into Art, Dance, and Perception

Museo Nacional del Prado / Juan Muñoz Exhibition Archives

At the Museo Nacional del Prado, Juan Muñoz’s enigmatic universe expands beyond exhibition walls into a dynamic programme of education, performance, and participation. Under the banner of PRADO Education, the museum presents a series of workshops, dance encounters, tactile visits, and guided activities connected to the exhibition Juan Muñoz. Art Stories, inviting audiences to engage with the artist’s work through multiple senses and disciplines.

Central to this programme is the workshop “Alone with Juan Muñoz”, taking place on February 19, 2026, with registration opening on January 27. Aimed at young people aged 18 to 25, the workshop welcomes creatives from theatre, dance, visual arts, cinema, music, and beyond. Participants are encouraged to explore perception and imagination, experimenting with ways to blur the boundaries between fantasy and reality, a core concern in Muñoz’s sculptural practice.

Dance plays a particularly vital role in this expanded dialogue. On February 14, 2026, ELAMOR x Juan Muñoz presents a dance performance where choreography becomes an extension of Muñoz’s work. Rather than serving as accompaniment, movement interacts directly with his optical floors, silent figures, and fictional spaces, embodying the tension between stillness and motion that defines much of his art.

This exploration continues with the workshop ELAMOR x Juan Muñoz: Sharing Possibilities in Dance, scheduled for February 4, 2026, with registration from January 21. Conceived as a practical meeting space, the workshop focuses on exchange, research, and creation around contemporary dance and voice, offering participants the chance to collectively investigate new performative possibilities inspired by Muñoz’s conceptual world.

Accessibility and inclusivity are also key pillars of the programme. From February 12, 2026, the Prado offers a tactile visit designed for visually impaired visitors. This experience allows participants to explore selected works from the Juan Muñoz Estate through touch, opening up alternative ways of understanding form, space, and narrative within the exhibition.

For visitors seeking deeper contextual insight, the museum hosts Keys to the Exhibition sessions every Monday at 1:00 pm and 5:30 pm in the Conference Room, alongside guided tours running Tuesday to Sunday at 12 noon. Led by educators, these activities unpack the major themes of Juan Muñoz. Art Stories, offering audiences structured yet engaging pathways into one of Spain’s most influential contemporary artistic legacies.

Together, these initiatives position the Prado not only as a site of preservation, but as a living space for experimentation and dialogue. By merging education, performance, and accessibility, Alone with Juan Muñoz transforms the exhibition into an active field of encounter, where art is not only seen, but experienced, questioned, and reimagined.
