In a major milestone for one of pop music’s defining voices, the Grammy Museum® in Los Angeles officially launched “Olivia Rodrigo: the cure unraveled,” an immersive two-part exhibition presented by American Express.
Opened to the public on September 2, 2026, and running through February 22, 2027, the showcase offers fans an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at the handmade artistry and tactile sets from Rodrigo’s “the cure” music video—taken from her studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The museum journey kicked off with an exclusive opening night on Tuesday, September 1, which featured a live conversation moderated by Oscar-winning filmmaker and author Cameron Crowe, followed by a special performance by Rodrigo.
Curator Insights & Exhibition Details
Highlighting the importance of DIY craftsmanship and creative expression, Grammy Museum Curator Kelsey Goelz noted the significance of bringing these physical assets into an institutional space. Kelsey Goelz emphasized how the exhibit offers visitors a unique glimpse behind the scenes of a professional music video shoot while celebrating independent, handcrafted artistry.
Directed by Cat Solen and Jaime Gerin, with production design by Liam Moore, the music video for “the cure” took place inside a surreal, handmade cardboard hospital. The Grammy Museum exhibition brought these physical artifacts directly to visitors:
The Original Nurse Costume: The complete custom nurse outfit worn by Olivia Rodrigo during the video shoot.
Handcrafted Props & Sets: Original stop-motion animation elements, animatronic heart puppets, miniature "Operating Rooms" (OR), and felted human hearts.
Album Artwork Archives: Original handwritten lyrics and hand-stitched artwork used for the physical packaging of you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love.
Phase Two Fall Expansion: A secondary, expanded iteration launching later in fall 2026 will introduce never-before-seen career artifacts spanning Rodrigo’s rise over the past decade, as curated by Kelsey Goelz and the museum team.
