Art, Memory, and Performance Collide at the Guggenheim

This summer, the Guggenheim Museum presents Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers—a striking solo exhibition by one of contemporary art’s most visionary voices. Known for blending art history with Black popular culture, Johnson’s latest work transforms the museum’s iconic rotunda into a layered meditation on identity, memory, and healing.

The exhibition doesn’t stop at the visual. Live performances, curated by community partners, bring the space to life every weekend: The Sanguine piano is activated Fridays at 4 pm and Sundays at 1 pm, while the Rotunda Stage hosts performances Saturdays at 1 pm and Mondays at 4 pm.

Through July, extended Thursday hours (open until 8 pm) make it easier to experience Johnson’s world on your own time.
